President
Khalilah Shabazz
Khalilah learned the importance of versatility early on as a child within a military family. After her family, ultimately, settled in California, she completed middle school and high school in Oakland. Khalilah went on to attend Hampton University where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and immediately became committed to letting her “life do the singing.” She later obtained a master’s in public administration from Old Dominion University and credits this course of study with solidifying her passion for leadership studies, processes, fiscal management and organizational management. If she had to describe her leading philosophy as a “serial entrepreneur” in a short phase, she would call herself a “forever creative that loves systems and processes.” Khalilah believes in serving her community and the goodness that comes from servitude. Her professional career consists of over 20+ years of human and social services positions, several years as a therapeutic foster parent and years consulting others on the pathway to their dreams as human services entrepreneurs. Khalilah continues to be civically engaged as a member of the Norfolk Branch NAACP, a member of the Southampton Roads Hampton University Alumni Association and a member Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. She has served on various boards in positions of treasurer and president. Khalilah is a lifelong advocate for systems that strengthen the family unit and believes that families are better when together with the support that they need. Khalilah is the mother of two children and one grandchild. She lives by the personal motto that success is measured by the seeds that you plant and the fields that you, selflessly, help to harvest.
